John Walsh Bagpipes
|
A native of Yorkshire, England, John Walsh immigrated to Canada as an engineer in 1980. He is a superb soloist and bandsman with a keen ear for sound, and a long tradition of playing in top-flight pipe bands.
He was Pipe Sergeant of the 78th Fraser Highlanders of Toronto when they won the World Championship in 1987. More recently, he has played with House of Edgar Shotts and Dykehead, winning the World’s with this storied band in 2005.
John’s forays into pipemaking began when he developed the very popular ‘Shuttle Pipe’ smallpipes some years ago. As he honed his craft he added mouthblown smallpipes, practice chanters and pipe chanters to the mix, and his instruments gained a world-wide following.
